BalticBiomass4Value Consortium

Within a framework of the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Programme 2014-2020, a transnational project “Unlocking the Potential of Bio-based Value Chains in the Baltic Sea Region” (BalticBiomass4Value) started in 2019 with 2.8 million euros budget and a consortium of 17 public authorities, sectoral agencies, research institutions and business associations from 8 countries, i.e. from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Germany, Poland, Sweden, Norway, and the Russian Federation.

This consortium aims to enhance capacity of public and private actors within the Baltic Sea Region to produce bioenergy in more environmentally sustainable and economically viable ways by utilizing new biomass sources (chiefly, biological waste) for energy production, as well as by employing possibilities to use bioenergy production side streams for higher value bio-based products.
